1962 BMW R50S

The BMW R50S, with only 1,634 units produced from 1960 to 1962, is the lowest production Earles fork model. Its 494cc high-compression boxer engine delivered around 35 horsepower, offering a notable performance edge over the standard R50. BMW Group Classic issued a digital birth certificate confirming the motorcycle's authenticity, with matching frame and motor numbers, original ID tag, and detailed production and delivery information.

This R50S features new old stock Dover White fenders and a rare chrome Escort sport tank sourced from a Michigan collector, both were still sealed in their original factory boxes. NOS Albert headlight mirrors provide the finishing touch.

NOS R50S specific speedometer & mufflers

Back when NOS parts were more accessible, I was lucky to acquire R50S-specific valve covers, carburetor air tubes, and a hydraulic steering damper mechanism. The motorcycle even retains an original Sonnenschein battery, as listed in 1960s BMW parts catalogs.
